Welcome to Ulva
The Isle of Ulva is well worth a visit, go there
for the day - there's too much to miss if you squeeze it into just a morning
or an afternoon.
|

Ulva is reached by a small passenger ferry (no
cars, but cyclists are welcomed). There is a visitor's centre
describing some of the history and diverse geology of the island. In
recent years an old croft building has been restored, complete with thatched
roof. Enjoy refreshments at the Boathouse, or indulge in some Ulva
Oysters with Guinness. |

The ferry runs on
demand from 9.00am - 5.00pm in the summer - see the
Ulva website
for off-season information. Please note:- even during the
summer, there is no Saturday ferry. Also, boat trips to Staffa
and the Treshnish Isles depart from Ulva Ferry - make sure you're on
the right boat!
There is a great visitor's booklet
supplied that has lots of walks with places of interest marked.
Learn more about some of Ulva's famous past residents and visitors
including Dr David Livingston's grandparents, Gen. Lachan Macquarie,
'The Founder of Modern Australia', Dr Johnson and James Boswell, |
